2011 | UBS AND THE TERRITORY. DETAIL AS A CODE
URIN - Albertina Academy of Fine Arts, The Pinacoteca | BI-PERSONAL-CONTEST [Winner]
Details in the mirror. The lens is always the same, it’s the expression of an objective and homogeneous reality. But one need only shift it a few centimetres to reveal nuances of unimaginable significance. It is a simple movement, yet the interpretations it unleashes are almost infinite.
Thus we become the masters of a game that draws the eye aw¬ay from the superfluous and allows us to rethink the limits we find ourselves bound by. We acquire sensations, values and identities, which we develop and bring with us to the outside world. Each one of us becomes a keyword, vital in translating the cipher of reality.
But objects are not the only things reflecting or being reflected... we too reflect the city in which we live and, in turn, reflect upon it. The insight of each individual allows many different viewpoints to be obtained from each place, that somehow never contradict one another. As such, there is no“One Truth”, but rather a series of truths, all equally valid.
The city’s story is not just told by its monuments, or it's postcard-picture-perfect scenes. Sometimes its¬ essence is found on the walkways, in the daily thoroughfares, where one would least expect it. Sometimes a single detail is enough. And, of course, someone attentive enough to notice it.
Exhibition organized by UBS in order to draw attention to the Italian tradition of landscape photography and at the same time to discover and rediscover the territory not only for visitors but also for locals who can learn to look with new eyes what is around them.
